Where can we meet?

private message
Need to get some ideas of where we can get together. If it is just going to be talking, it can be anywhere - restaurant, hall, wherever. A more formal, teaching meeting will need white boards, projectors, etc. If we are going to have an install night, it would be really nice to have an Internet connection.

Any ideas?

I personally haven't met too many Linux users in this area, but you never know. They could be hiding anywhere!
There seems to be more and more people interested in Macs and Linux since V.... came out, so I expect there will be more interest soon. I hope so. It's been about nine years for me since I discovered this OS, and I haven't gone back.

Perhaps an announcement in the community events page of the local newspapers would attract the attention of Linux users who don't know of this Web site and a meeting place could be sought in accordance with the interest shown.

Is there anyone out there?

There hasn't been much activity. Between work and family stuff I haven't been able to do much with the LUG. We need to advertise the site so that we can stir up some interest and then start having meetings.

I've been happily MS free for a couple of years now and have been converting people over from the dark side. I was even able to get a Linux server in at work, but haven't been to a COWLUG or NanLUG meeting in months.

Perhaps we could meet at a coffee shop or someone's home to introduce ourselves and find out what we expect from the LUG. I have been using Linux since 2000 but have never attended a LUG meeting as there wasn't one near where I lived before moving here two years ago. As far as advertising, I am willing to see that ads are placed in the local newspapers but first we need to decide who our contact(s) will be, a time suitable to all, etc.

Hi All,

Would any of you like to get together on the evening of Wednesday, July 23rd, (7 - 7:30 pm) at Kiki's Tea & Spice Shop in Coombs? (It's in the house attached to the old General Store). I can arrange for a small white board, maybe get the wireless LAN set up (planned for, but not done yet), and provide good coffee/tea, and goodies (small donation for them would be nice).

I've been using Ubuntu for 95% of my work this past year--still need XP for Dreamweaver and Photoshop use, but that's all I use XP for now.

Great, Doreen. Now, there's three of us for sure (you, my friend, and me). I hope others will see this message and also be able to come on the 23rd.
